Acupuncture!

Well I went and tried out Acupuncture!  Yes, me with the needle phobia issues!  I had 2 things going for me on the visit, it was for neck/back pain so I was face down and couldn't see the needles.  Also my neck was bothering me so bad I wasn't able to get on the computer so I was forced to do something, and I wanted to try this before going back to the Japanese chiropractor who does a deep tissue massage long enough to make you want to cry.

The visit was interesting and nothing at all like I expected.  After he put the needles in my back and neck, which I was surprised I didn't even feel except 2 of them, he attached them to an electronic machine that made them pulse.  It was okay except in one spot where it hurt like being flicked repeatedly, when he told me 15 to 20 mins I was wondering how long I could take the flicking pain.  So I resorted to using a coping method of repeating The Lord's Prayer over and over, it was calming and I was able to block out the pain.

Then he came in and removed the needles and gave my neck a rub down, which was tender in one spot after being electrocuted, thankfully he was nothing like the chiropractor and he didn't cause me extra pain.  Then he put me on a weird table that has 2 large rollers that roll all down your body, it was weird and at some points a bit uncomfortable but overall OK.

I did feel relief in my neck after leaving and NO numbness or tingling while on the computer like before.  I did feel some numbness today (1 day post Acupuncture) when I was grading math tests while subbing this morning but overall my neck feels way better.  I'm going to try to make one more visit out there in hopes of fully resolving it before we have to move.

So overall thoughts: Way better than expected, no reason for worries about needles and it was helpful!  And it only cost $25 for 45 minutes.
