Tackling the Problem

Awhile back after a few run-ins with incidents that I let get the best of me, I made a resolution that the next time I encountered a situation I would 1) Pray first, and 2) Freak out 2nd! As I normally have the tendency to Freak out...scramble to try to resolve the issue, get very frustrated, and then pray when it was all over. Somehow that seemed all out of order and NOT very productive.

So a few months ago our kitchen sink got clogged and I got frustrated because I didn't know how to fix it. Ultimately I broke down, cried, and walked over to ask the neighbor for help. After watching him dismantle the pipes and pull out a paintbrush, I was horrified that 1) he had to come to my aid, and 2) that the stupid paintbrush fell down the drain! As he was struggling to get the pipes back together in all the right places, I was thankful that it wasn't me having to figure it out. And I will admit that when I seen water leaking from the pipes I did consider calling a plumber or hunting down the neighbor BUT I refused to be defeated before I even tried, must be that darn stubborn Independence ;)

Then today as I'm loading the dishwasher, I realize that the sink is clogged again! I immediately remember my resolve from last time and start to pray. Then decide to think about the problem logically without emotions or frustration involved. I finish loading the dishwasher (but don't start it because I know it can't drain into the clogged sink) and then carry several buckets full of water out to the backyard.

After the sink is water free I called the boys in to help me clear out the stuff from under the sink. Then remembering how hard it was for the neighbor to put the pipes back in order I decide we should take a picture AND label them with a sharpie ;) I then proceed to undo the U pipe and viola we found the clog!

Boo successfully removed the clogged mess while I sop up some of the water that missed the bucket. I dry it off and attach it back to the other pipes and Yipee! Our sink is fixed! Praise God! So, No I did not let the kitchen sink get the best of me! And I never even made it to the Freak out stage!

And just while I was typing this we had another 'incident,' I just had to chuckle to myself, humor keeps me sane ;) So stay tuned until next time to find out what happened.....
