Allergy Testing & Awards

Yesterday was a day of Allergy Testing for Bubby and Awards for both the boys.

Bubby had allergy testing done because he's been having problems with allergy symptoms that we haven't been able to control with medicine.  He was on Zyrtec, Sudafed, Flonase and Motrin for the 2-3 times a week headaches.  They said 7 yr olds should not be having that many headaches as it is not a good quality of life...I have to agree, I wouldn't want to have that many headache myself!  So yesterday Mr. B took him for the testing, I had wanted to go but ended up with a 5 day subbing job and I couldn't take one of the days off in the middle of the 5 days.  So anyways they went and found out that Bubby is quite allergic to grasses, trees, weeds, and dogs.  Poor kid!  And it wasn't even just a little allergic...on the evaluation scale after waiting 20 minutes after the pricks he got the highest (4+) on all the grasses except one, cats, 2 of the weeds with the other weeds being 2-3, and a few 1's on the trees.  They have recommended allergy shots, which is a 3-5 year commitment.  My dilemma is do we do the allergy shots so he can be free of the allergies after 3-5 years or do we keep trying meds so he'll have them all his life?  We should hear back from a specialist in a few weeks, so we'll decide more after that.  Even if we do opt for the shots it won't be something we can start until we get to AL because we'll be in-route for 3-4 weeks when we move.

Now for the more positive news both the boys received awards yesterday.  Bubby (our 7 yr old) made a powerpoint project on the moon and it got sent to District Headquarters where it was chosen out of the many submitted for the award.  It's amazing how young kids are learning to work the computer these days.  Guess I'll have to ask them when I need help!

Boo won the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence.  He also placed 2nd in the Math Olympiad contest for his school.  He also received a certificate of appreciation for his work with CNBC which is the live school television show they produce and air 3 times a week at our school.  I have been told we are the only elementary school where the students (5th & 6th graders) actually produce and air a live television show.  It's pretty neat and has been a great experience for him this year.  When family was visiting over spring break they even got to stop by the school to watch a show.

Ok I guess that's enough for now, I REALLY need to take my Math test today...I'll be halfway done today!  And I need to get a cracking because I just found out yesterday that my next and FINAL class starts on the 23rd of this month and this one doesn't end until July 4th so there will be a little overlap.  Thankfully school will be out and I won't be subbing...although I do have a client due around that time.

Oh yeah, real quick my Awesome friend Y sent me this book for my B-day:
101 Things You Should Do Before Going to Heaven

The first one is Risk Looking Stupid, I can confidently say I have that one covered...probably many times over ;)  Do you?
