Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavarian Germany

Views of Neuschwnstein Castle

I have always wanted to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle but never dreamed that I would actually be able to, but in April 2005 this dream became a reality.  It was an amazing experinace.  Photography wasn't allowed in the castle itself so click on the links to see inside photos.  And the story behind King Ludwig II himself was very fascinating.

As you can see in April it was still snowy in this part of the region while the other parts of Germany we traveled had nicer weather.  Thankfully I had packed for cold weather 'just in case.'

We traveled many spots in Germany during a 10 day vacation there but this was one of the highlights for me.  To get to the castle you have to get up this long winding road, many people walk, but we opted for the horse drawn carriage ride since we had kids and didn't know if they could make the walk.

While the tour was interesting it was one of those things were you wished that you worked there so you could see the WHOLE castle and all the things that are 'behind' the scenes.

We were never at a view/angle of the whole castle to get one of the whole castle pics that are so famous, if we ever go back I hope to be able to do that.

Hello Laurie,
Thanks for visiting my blog, glad you like the photos, well, except the spider one, not to worry, I don't take too many spider photos.
You have some great photos of the castle Neus...
