November 2009

Wow, how quickly the past year has passed! November 2009 finds us in a new 'season' of our lives. Just thought I'd share what I've been reading lately :)

While we are still incredibly busy (as I'm sure all families are) there is still reading going on here, some by choice and some mandated by my class. The high note is that this is my FINAL class for my Master's and I'm so ready to be done! 7 more weeks to go! Don't fret all my friends I still have a few 'ideas' brewing as to how I can mind busy ;)

The PAIR test manual, Intimate Relationships, & Hope-Focused Marriage Counseling are all for my class. So far so good although I do have to 'make' myself read them...something about being in the last class that just has me procrastinating like crazy! Ugh! So not my style, but I guess as least as it gets done...well and gets done well that is ;)

Women of the Bible is my daily devotional I'm doing and it's very appropriate for this season in my life. I am learning so much from it! I am starting my 7th week today, that is a huge accomplishment for me to have at least gotten that far, I'm looking forward to successfully finishing it! This is a great book!

Captivating & Captivating study guide are for my women's small group. This is a great book as well and I LOVE the small group. It's amazing how greatly your life can be impacted by a book and a group of women, I am so thankful that I joined this group!

Growing Kids God's Way is for my parenting small group. And truthfully it's just OK, I haven't found anything extraordinary in it yet and the dvds we watch are dreadfully BORING. I can't even watch the guy half the time cuz he keeps licking his lips like a frog and it drives me batty. Plus the little move where he puts his hand on his wife's knee to shut her up kills me! It really seems less about a 'team' and more about him. Anywho the fellowship is amazing and makes it all worth it ;)

The Good Solider is a book highly recommended in one of the magazines I read so I thought I'd give it a whirl. It's very insightful as to what happened with the deployed group in Iraq but is not for the faint of heart as it is all based on what really happened. Truthfully it's really sad but the writer gives a great insight into what goes on during war to our US Soldiers.

I'm still trying to decide what I want to read next for 'fun' but so far nothing has really struck my fancy.....probably a book from the Ballentine reader's circle as I've really been enjoying those...or one of Jodi Picoult's books.

So basically this was an update to let ya'll know, I'm here, I'm sane, I'm staying busy, and I'm praising God for everything He has done in my life!
