Boo's Fingers Injury Update

Today was Boo's appointment with the surgeon and unfortunately it wasn't the news we were hoping for. We suspected that his right hand ring finger probably had a severed tendon from his inability to move it but it was also discovered there is nerve damage in that finger as well. He doesn't have feeling in it and it just feels numb to him. It was also determined that there is a high probability that the tendon in his pinky finger is severed as well :(

With that being said he is scheduled for surgery on Friday, we'll know the specifics such as time, ect on Thurs. We're hoping that with the surgery and physical therapy he'll recover full function of both fingers, although we won't know the extent of the damage done until they open his fingers up for surgery.

I plan on documenting his progress through pictures. Here are the current and post-op pictures:

This is his hand made into a fist, notice the last 2 finger are unable to fully curl closed into the fist position

View of his open hand

His hand closed into a fist from a side view, he's trying to fully close his fist but is unable to control the last 2 fingers due to the tendon being severed and not there to close them

His ring finger and it bend as fully as possible, at a 90 degree angle

A comparative view, notice on the left normal bending ability of his finger and the non-bent position of the right hand finger.

Boo writing, he can't curl his fingers under as you would normally do to write.

Closed fist comparative end view, notice the difference between the 2?

Please pray for him and for the Dr. in charge of his care and surgery.

I also found a great site that explains Tendon Lacerations and how they are fixed, ect.

I'll be praying for him! That really stinks that he has to have surgery, but If that's what it takes to fix his fingers, then so be it!
