Limited Range of Motion

Boo got his cast off last Friday, at just short of 5 weeks.  While we all knew there would be some limited range of motion from being in a bent position for the past 5 weeks, I think we were all a little shocked and just how much it actually was.

He's not under any restrictions other than NO contact (ie football) or strength training until full range of motion has returned, and no playing until there is zero pain when pressure is applied to injury site.  The Dr. estimated it would be 1-2 more weeks before playing/strenght training.  Of course Boo wants to be able to start next week so he'll be working hard this week to get his range of motion back.

I've taken some pictures so we can document the progress.  I will say that last night I noticed a big difference from the pics I took yesterday morning to his range yesterday evening.  He's been out back practicing kicking and throwing and just that has really helped.  On Saturday he couldn't even throw the football with his right hand (although he can throw an amazing spiral with his left now!) but yesterday he was finally able to throw some.  While he couldn't throw far, just being able to throw was a big step!

Showing how far he can extend his arm, it's still stuck in a bent position

You can tell just when he stands or walks, the right arm is shorter and he still holds it bent when he walks, looks like he may need to correct his posture too from carrying around that heavy cast ;p

Wing span view....see the difference?!

Side view of extension

Frontal view, notice bend in right arm

Trying to turn his hand over like the left one

Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be posting pictures of his full return of range of motion, but I did tell him to be prepared for it to take 2 weeks just in case, but I hope it doesn't!
