Permission To Enter

Trusty ole Mac

On Friday Mr. B & Bub were standing in the kids bathroom when Mr. B called me into the room.  He had something he wanted to show me, so he flips the light switch and fan for the bathroom and instantly I'm transported to a Monster Truck rally!  It was so loud!  Of course just one more thing on the fritz around here.  I immediately tell him that I did NOT touch that light switch, it was NOT me who broke it!  Over the weekend (3 day of course so we can't call in to get it fixed) I notice that it's so loud that I can hear it in my bedroom with my door almost shut.  This is through the shut door of their bathroom and clear across the hall, ugh, it was to the point that we had to get it fixed because it was horribly annoying!

Yesterday morning Mr. B told me he was going to call in the work order for it.  Of course he prefaces it to the maintenance line as "I know your getting tired of me calling..but we have another issue" I hope were now not on some 'black list' LOL!  I figured we'd see the maintenance man in the next day or so as it is not a high priority.

Here's a little info about base housing and maintenance.  If your not home you can give them 'permission to enter' and while ideally I prefer to be home with so many issues and lots of things going on with 3 kids it is just not always possible to do so.  So of course Mr. B gave them permission to enter just in case I wouldn't be home at the time.

I finish cleaning up downstairs, get my crockpot fried chicken in the crockpot, and head upstairs to take a shower.  It was a late shower around 10:30 am as I'd been doing other things that morning.  A few minutes into the shower I hear a banging sound and Mac barking like crazy.  I decided I'd better check it out because Mac sounded pretty upset.  I quickly jump out of the shower, wrap a towel around me, and walk out my bedroom door when to my surprise (and horror!) I hear a male voice yelling 'Hello?!'  I cautiously peek over the banister ledge and sure enough the maintenance man is standing in the entryway with Mac barking like crazy!!  He literally came a few minutes after Mr. B called, which is unheard of!  I'm dripping wet with my wet hair hanging around my face, I quickly tell him that I was in the shower and I point him to the kids bathroom and quickly throw on my clothes.  Thank goodness for Mac and his warning!

I'm assuming since he's been here so often with all our recent issues that when he entered and found Mac loose & barking he knew someone was home.  Normally if we are not home Mac is penned in the laundry room.  Most of the time they also call ahead of arriving, but with our phone issues (loooong story) he may have tried and I didn't know.  So the guy stood there calling until someone responded, which I do have to say is better than the first time someone entered when I was home in the shower.  Yep, it's happened before!  Right after we moved in and was having some issues maintenance had came over and I guess the dog barking at him wasn't a big enough alert but as soon as he got to the top of the stairs and heard the shower he turned right around and high tailed it outta here.  I only know because after hearing the commotion I got out of the shower and seen a maintence truck driving away quickly, I'm sure he was pretty embarrassed and glad he didn't' get 'caught' LOL!  So as you can see permission to enter comes with some risks, I guess I'd better make an 'I'm in the shower sign' and plop it on the door for future reference, LOL!
